Well I was wondering if Amit will be adding addundum to Chapter 3 for Intel processor. I am not quite interested in learning PowerPC at this point.
Or anyone recommend corresponding intro to Intel just like Chapter 3.
Thanks. |

Perhaps.
I do want to point out that the PowerPC and x86 architecture aren't on par when it comes to needing documentation. There is tons of existing documentation, both from Intel and elsewhere, on the x86. In contrast, other than the processor manuals, there isn't much current documentation that discusses the PowerPC in the way Chapter 3 does. This is not to say that the book will some day not contain an entire chapter on the x86. I'm just saying that given all the circumstances and available timeframes, an x86 chapter wasn't very critical in the short term.

Amit. That was ONE fast answer.
Thank you.
I understand that.
But I was wondering if you can provide any book or web site or document that describes x86 the way you presented PowerPC in chapter 3.
hardware, register, ABI along with actual C code that goes along with them, etc. for example, how simple lock was implemented just like 3.5.2
Thank you again.
